Standard and Free Form Timelines

Posted on 6/3/2017 by DougO in News

Panda Timelines now supports both "Standard Timelines" and "Free Form Timelines". The latter is a new type of timeline that gives you the flexibility to order the timeline events manually. This is different from the "Standard Timeline" which automatically orders the events in chronological order.

Below is a brief description of each type of timeline and suggest usage.

Standard Timeline

This type of timeline is perfect for personal histories, special events, modern history, or anything that has happened in the past 2000 years. This timeline automatically displays the events in sorted date order. Dates between January 1, 0001 and December 31, 9999 on the Western calendar are supported.

Free Form Timeline

This type of timeline allows you to manually set the order of events. You may include dates (in any format you wish) in the event titles. Because Free Form Timelines allow you to manually set the order of events you can create timelines that are based on calendars not supported by the Standard TImeline.

Free Form Timelines are a great choice when your timeline needs to use prehistoric, geological, cosmic, or religious dates. This choice is also great for fictional dates (e.g., Middle-Earth, Star Wars, etc.).
