The Missouri Compromise 1820

1840- Council House fight

The Council House Fight, often referred to as the Council House Massacre, was a decidedly lopsided fight between soldiers and officials of the Republic of Texas and a delegation of Comanche chiefs during a peace conference in San Antonio on March 19, 1840. The meeting took place under an observed truce with the purpose of negotiating the exchange of captives and ultimately facilitating peace after two years of war. The Comanches sought to obtain recognition of the boundaries of the Comancheria, their homeland] while the Texians wanted the release of Texan and Mexican citizens held prisoner by the Comanches.

The Kansas-Nebraska Act was passed by the U.S. Congress. It let people in the area of Kansas and Nebraska to chose if they want slaves or not have slavery in their areas.

1857- Dred Scott v. Standford

In Dred Scott v. Sandford case the Supreme Court said that african americans free or not were not American citizens and could not sue in an actual court. The Court also said that Congress to ban slavery in the U.S.

1861-Sam Houston resigns as governor of Texas

He was voted as the president in 1836 and again in 1841 then he was the  senator after Texas became a state in 1845 he became governor in 1859 but was taken away from that spot after the secession of Texas in 1861 Houston journeyed to Texas in 1832.
