Charles II restored 1660 assuming he'd accept parliamentary sovereignty
Glorious Revolution of England
Charles II tried to reassert royal power, leading to this revolution. From this point on, absolute monarchy was practically gone due to the passage of set laws. The king became accountable to Parliament.
Act of Settlement
Royalty had to obey laws passed by Parliament. At this point, the king and Parliament also agreed to a Bill of Rights.
Convinced of the superiority of Russian tradition, Slavophiles attempted to shield Russia from foreign influence but was harshly knocked down after defeat by Britain and France in the Crimean War. This led to political forces that culminated in future revolutions.
Russo-Japanese War & First Revolution
Russia faced a disastrous loss to Japan, which was followed by a revolution.
Constitutional Revolution (Iran)
Promised firming up the legal status of Islam, strengthening the state, instituting economic reforms, and codifying the legal system.
End of Qing Dynasty
Sun Yat-sen's followers finally overthrew the government after many failed coups. He became president of the new Republic of China.
Bolshevik troops overthrew the provisional government, leading to first successful take over of government by Marxists.
May Fourth Movement
Thousands of students protested in a poorly organized movement that was quickly dissipated. Many of these supporters are young educated Chinese students who became more political after the Treaty of Versailles provisions.
At this point, the civil war ended and the Soviet Union was formally created. In 1924, Lenin dies. Stalin replaces him, to everyone's surprise.
CCP becomes formed and is comprised of young intellectuals supported by the Soviets. Included was Chiang Kai shek. Trained in the USSR.

Yeltsin elected president of the Russian Republic.
