Emancipation Proclamation

Emancipation Proclamation-The announcement made by president Lincoln during the civil war on September 22, 1862, emancipating African American slaves in state were still engaged by rebellion against the Union. Although implementation was strictly beyond Lincoln's powers, the declaration turned the war into a crusade against slavery. It went into effect on January 1, 1863

13th Amedment

The 13th Amedment to the U.S Constitution officially abolished slavery in America , but was also ratified on December 6, 1865, after the conclusion of the American Civil War.

14th Amedment

All aspects of citizenship and the rights of citizens, and all people born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction therefore, are citizens of the the United States shall make or enforce any law.

The Constitution granted African American men the right to vote by declaring people's rights no matter the race, color , religion .
