Decided to attend UW Eau Claire

I was accepted into the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire.  I decided to leave my high school friends, many of whom decided to go to UW Oshkosh, and go to UW Eau Claire not knowing anyone.

Accepted my first teaching job

I was offered a job in the Madison Metropolitan School District as a cross-categorical special education teacher.  My degree, which I graduated with one and a half months before was in Learning Disabilities and Elementary Education.   I had seven students with autism on my caseload and I had never worked with a student with autism.  I had no idea what I was doing, but I learned so much!

Became a Stay at Home Mom

My daughter Anna was born on March 22, 2004 and I decided that I did not want to go back into teaching.  I wanted to stay at home with her.  I ended up taking ten years off and having two more children.

Got back into teaching.

Once my youngest son was off to 4K, I decided to get back to teaching.  After taking ten years off, I started subbing in the Madison Metropolitan District.  I had been out of teaching for a long time.

Took a position in the Verona School District

After subbing and teaching summer school in the Madison Metropolitan School District, I was offered a position in the Verona Area School District.  With my own children in the Madison district and working there in the past, I was leaning towards waiting for positions to open up there.  Instead, I accepted a position in the Verona District.
